Narnala Fort: Located at a distance of around 24 kms from Akot, this fort lies in the dense forest of Satpura’s Melghat tiger reserve. The fort is surrounded by a variety of flora and fauna. You will get to see several different species of plants, birds and animals on your visit to the fort. This place is not only for those who love visiting historical monuments but also for those who have an adventure streak.
Chikhaldara: This is again located in the dense hills of Satpura’s Melghat Tiger Reserve, however, its distance from the Akot is much greater than that of Narnala Fort. It lies at a distance of approximately 107 km from the city.
Dharul: Another place of historical importance, Hazrat Awaliya Ambiya Tomb Dharul Sharif is located on the Bordi-Mohala road which lies at a distance of 8 km from Akot.
Religious Spots in AkotThere are many religious spots that attract people from different religions from far and wide. Here is a look at the same:
Narsing Maharaj Temple: One of the oldest temples located in Akot, the Narsingh Maharaj temple sees several devotees pouring in to offer prayers. Also known as the hut of Narsing Maharaj, this is the place where Narsing Maharaj entered into Samadhi in the 18th century after he felt that the aim of his life had been accomplished.
Shri Wari Hanuman Temple: This is another place of religious importance here. It is located near the city in the adjacent forest land of Telhara Taluka. Located nearby is the Shri Hanuman Sagar Dam. People visit here not only for religious purpose but also to enjoy adventure sports.
Akolkhed: Sant Gajanan Maharaj Vihir is located at a distance of 11 km from Akot amidst the forest. The aura around the temple is quite enchanting and the temple is very beautifully constructed.
Mundgaon: Sant Gajanan Maharaj Paduka Santhan Mundgaon is located 12 km from Akot on the Akot-Telhara road. Not just the locals but the people from other parts of the state also visit here to seek blessings.
Dhargad Mahadev Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple sees devotees gathering around in large numbers especially on Mondays.
Swami Samarth Maharaj: Dedicated to Swami Samarth Maharaj, a big festival is hosted here each year on the anniversary of Swami Samartha. People from different parts of Maharashtra visit the place on this big day.
Ganesha Temple: A 1000-year-old idol of Lord Ganesha resides here. It is actually a wood piece that has the appearance of the lord. This piece was found by a worker while digging a ground. This was the time when Akot had been hit by the deadly plague epidemic, however, after the idol was established in the temple this epidemic miraculously disappeared.
Jama Masjid: Located on the Shaukat Ali Chowk in Akot, is one of the oldest mosques in the city. Muslim devotees gather in large number here. The mosque is all decked up during the Ramzan month.
Abubakar Masjid: Another famous mosque in the city; this again sees several people gathering around to offer prayers.
Itwara Bazar Masjid: This one is located at the Shivaji Chowk in Akot.
Tabligi Markaj Masjid: Another mosque in Akot that attracts devotees from within the city as well as other parts of the state.

Transportation in Akot
Akot is well connected with Anjangaon, Akola, Amravati, Shegaon, Daryapur, Telhara, Murtijapur and Paratwada via road. You can easily hire a cab or travel via buses to these nearby areas. Several private buses also run to Aurangabad, Pune, Shirdi and Nagpur daily from Akot.
There is a single meter gauge line that connects Akot to Akola and Indore. Two pairs of passenger trains run to these two cities daily. It was inaugurated in 1961. Those planning to travel to other parts via train can reach the Akola railway junction which is at a distance of around 45 km. Akola railway station is well connected with several Indian cities.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur is the nearest international airport here. It is situated at a distance of 242 km from Akot.
